South branch knitting and crochet session“AWWW!”

The exclaim of delight was heard from the full conference room at INB’s South 6th St. branch on Wednesday morning.

INB’s Vicki Wall held up a tiny, red knitted hat with a matching bow knitted right into the design for the group to admire. One member of the group had completed the hat while the ladies joined together to knit and crochet red hats for INB’s Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign.

The knitting/crocheting gathering was one of INB’s Customer Appreciation Events being held at our branches across central Illinois each day this week, expressing our gratitude for our customers and their years of loyalty.

Also part of our Customer Appreciation Week, the bank is also holding shred events, where anyone in the community can bring documents they need to be shredded securely. INB shred events are free, but at this week’s events, we are collecting donations to benefit the Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign. Donations will be used to purchase yarn, from which red newborn hats will be created and distributed to labor and delivery hospitals in Sangamon County.

“We’re so excited to be working with INB to bring this campaign to Sangamon County,” said Carrie Skogsberg, director of communications for the Illinois Heart Association. “It’s a huge value for our community to be able to spread more awareness of congenital heart defects and children’s heart health. We’re looking forward to delivering all of the hats in February for American Heart Month.”

INB will hold two more knitting/crocheting lessons at INB branches:

  • Montvale Plaza from 12-1 p.m. Friday
  • North Dirksen Parkway from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday

We enjoyed hosting this event on South Sixth Street. It was a fun morning, and we’re thrilled so many people have come on board with this endeavor.

This week, INB is also hosting Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray’s vital records mobile unit, where customers can apply for a marriage or business license and obtain birth or death certificates. At our South Sixth Street event this past Saturday, the clerk’s staff produced its first original marriage license from a location outside of the County Clerk’s Office. In other locations, they’ve issued copies of licenses.
